Heard about the Korean Ten Step Skin Care Routine? It is a complex and detailed routine designed to attain near skin perfection - "glass skin" that is so luminous it appears to glow from within. Chances are you had one of two reactions – you loved the idea of something that complicated and detailed and immediately tried it. Or… you laughed uproariously at the idea of ever spending that much time on a skincare routine.
Skincare is about as personal as it gets. No one has the same skin as you do or the same desires for that skin. You also have to consider your circumstances – what sort of time, space and budget do you have to commit to your skin. If skincare is your passion or your self-care ritual, you may absolute love to spend time pampering yourself. If it isn’t, and you are entirely utilitarian about your regime – then you will be looking for the quickest, most effective skincare routine with the least touch points in it. Most of us are somewhere in the middle.
We’ve created two skincare regimes here with our products that allow you go minimalist or absolutely maximalist – a two-step, three product program that will deliver results as well as our version of the Korean Ten Step program, a truly skin changing routine. Take your pick and either way – give yourself a tiny pat on the back for already caring a great deal about your skin and your body by seeking out organic skincare.
The Holy Trinity: A minimalist’s skincare regime.
The Holy Trinity is made up of three products – our signature collection of ingredients that all work together to heal, strengthen and protect. It contains every thing you need for any skin type. This routine has worked on sensitive psoriasis prone skin, skin suffering from acne and aging skin. It will balance and hydrate all skin types.
Step One: Cleanse with our Petitgrain Cream Cleanser.
Put 1-2 pumps of cleanser into the palm of your hand, massage onto DRY skin to lift dirt and makeup. Rinse with tepid water.
Step Two: Nourish with NEO Serum and Rosewater.
Put 2-4 drops of NEO oil in the palm of your hand, add a couple of sprays of Rosewater (this helps the oils penetrate deeper into the skin's layers) rub together and massage over face and neck area.
You’re done. This routine works just as well in the morning as it does at night. You can put your makeup straight over the top and it will stick beautifully to your dewy skin, or you can add in a moisturiser or sunscreen if you prefer. It’s a base routine that you can add to if you feel you need extra moisture or a treatment, but otherwise, these products have everything in them that your skin needs to be healthy.
The VM Ten-Step Luxe Program
Step One Cleanse: Petitgrain Cream Cleanser Put 1-2 pumps of cleanser into the palm of your hand, massage onto DRY skin to lift dirt and makeup. Rinse with tepid water. This removes any makeup and oily products or pollution from your skin.
Step Two Double Cleanse: Clementine Foaming Cleanser
Pump cleanser into the palm of your hand, massage over face & neck. Rinse with tepid water and pat dry. The second water based cleanser gives an extra deep clean and helps to break up the glue holding dead skin cells together.
Step Three Exfoliate: Prebiotic and C Brightening Exfoliator
Mix half a teaspoons of the powder with water to make a paste, apply to the face and neck area. With circular motions exfoliate the skin avoiding the eye and lip area.
This gently breaks down the dead skin cells and removes them allowing the skin underneath to be revealed. This new skin then gets the benefit of the active ingredients in the powder.
Step Four Mask: Prebiotic and C Brightening Exfoliator
Our exfoliator doubles as a mask. Simply leave the paste on your face until it has dried and then moisten it and wash off in circular motions. Bentonite Clay is a unique clay due to its ability to produce an “electrical charge” when hydrated. Upon contact with fluid, its electrical components change, giving it the ability to absorb toxins. Bentonite is known for its ability to absorb & remove toxins, heavy metals, impurities, and chemicals. Leaving the exfoliator on as a mask allows the clay to activate and absorb any deep impurities from your skin.
Step Five Tone: Rosewater Spray
Spray the rosewater directly onto your face or alternately, spray into your hands and pat onto your face.
Rosewater controls and balances sebum production, making it useful for both dry and oily skin. It can balance and restore the skin's Ph and helps tighten pores. Its antibacterial properties help fight acne giving troubled skin a gentle, rather than a harsh treatment. It is reputed to be useful in the treatment of all sorts of dermatitis.
Step Six Treament: Two Phase Vitamin C Brightening System
Place half a spatula of powder in the palm of your hand, add 3-6 drops of Vitamin C serum and mix together. Apply to the face and neck area in patting motions. The skin will feel warm and tingle as the active ingredients interact with your newly exfoliated skin. Our Two Phase Vitamin C concentrate is formulated with some of nature's most potent and effective ingredients to actively assist in brightening your skin. The organic blend of natures extracts, Vitamin C and Kakadu Plum powder help enhance luminosity and bring clarity to the skin. It also firms the skin, helps to fade dark spots and can even acne scarring.
Choose the treatment that best suits the needs of your skin. Cry Facelift is a luxurious, plumping, brightening and lifting serum while Cryo Revive is a lighter, refreshing and rejuvenating serum. Remove one ice cube from the freezer. Remove foil cover and press ice cube out. Insert the ice cube into the muslin cloth provided. Apply to face, neck and décolletage in a circular motion until the ice cube has completely melted. Pat excess moisture into the skin of the face, neck and décolletage.
Step Eight Eye Cream: The Triple Action Eye lift serum
This serum lifts and firms the delicate area around the eye, using some of nature's finest ingredients. These ingredients are known to help benefit those with dark circles, tired or puffy eyes. Dab 2-4 drops along the orbital bone (Eye socket) and pat gently until absorbed.
Your choice of added moisturiser will depend on your skins needs. For deep moisture use our Marine Collagen Anti-Aging Night Cream. This intensive night cream contains IBR-Dormin®, ginseng, kelp, goji berry, vitamin E, spirulina, gotu kola, jojoba oil and rosehip oil. For lighter moisture try our Rose & Chamomile Hydrating Face Cream. This cream has a rich velvety texture and absorbs very easily into the skin. It's packed with active certified organic ingredients: oils and extracts, which are known to soothe dehydrated, tired and sensitive skin types. With any moisturiser, place a small amount in your palm and pat it gently onto the face and neck.
Step Ten Boost: Collagen Boosting gel
If you still find your skin needs a little something extra this is the time for a boost. Our Collagen boosting gel has been formulated to add hydration to the epidermal layers with Hyaluronic acid delivering actives through the skin, as it acts like an osmotic pump. Place 4-6 drops on fingertips and pat directly onto the skin until absorbed. This products is also great as a primer under makeup.
You’ll probably need a nap after that routine, but imagine what you will look like when you wake up – truly glowing. Every need of your skin will have been met and you’ll feel relaxed and pampered.
With all due respect to the Korean skincare gurus who created the 10-step regime, we aren’t convinced you need to do this every day. Once a week would make for an incredible pick-me-up and nourish for your skin, but by all means – do what works for you.
