WHY USE NATURAL & ORGANIC SKINCARE?

This is a great question that we hear all the time. And the answer is simple: use natural and organic skincare because it's clean and it works. Traditional skincare and cosmetics are largely packed with chemicals and synthetic ingredients that can do more harm than good for your skin (read about some of these harmful ingredients in "Our Bathroom Challenge" blog post). The truth is that Mother Nature provides us with all of the ingredients we need for beautiful, healthy, glowing skin- so why use the nasties when you can get the same (and often BETTER) results without them?

 

WHAT INGREDIENTS DO YOU USE IN YOUR PRODUCTS?

We use only the very best quality natural and organic ingredients. All of our ingredients are 100% natural. No chemicals, mineral oils, parabens, PEG's, artificial preservatives, colours or fragrances are used. Full ingredient listings are included on individual product pages.

 

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH PRODUCTS ARE RIGHT FOR ME?

ARE ALL YOUR PRODUCTS CERTIFIED ORGANIC?

Our entire range is ACO (Australian Certified Organic) certified with only a couple notable exceptions:

Shampoo & Conditioner - we have not certified our shampoo and conditioner because doing so would increase the price point to more than $80 a bottle. Which makes it available to less customers, which is not what we want!

Room Sprays & Fragrances - we are unable to certify these products as they are largely made up of water, and water cannot be certified organic. 

 

WHY ARE YOU CERTIFIED ORGANIC?

We believe in 100% transparency in our products and ingredients, so you never have to question what exactly you're feeding your skin when you use a VM product. Our certification from ACO (Australian Certified Organic), one of Australian's leading Certified Organic bodies, displays our integrity and dedication to this transparency. It means that you can trust us; that your skin is safe in our hands. It took us three years to get to this stage of development, sourcing the best natural ingredients and creating the best formulas to give you and your skin the best chance to regenerate completely, honestly and naturally. We are incredibly proud to be ACO certified. 

 

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS VEGAN?

Our range is primarily vegan, with the following exceptions:

- Prebiotic + C Brightening Exfoliator - contains Yogurtene(R) Balance, a natural active that reduces pathogenic bacteria and is great for sensitive and ageing skin

- Extreme Organic Moisture Boost & Lip Balm - both contain Bees Wax for deep penetrating moisture, skin healing and protection

 

I AM PREGNANT- ARE YOU PRODUCTS SAFE FOR ME?

First of all, congratulations! While it is safe to use most of our products during pregnancy, we recommend avoiding our natural perfumes, as they have >0.2% dilution of essential oils.

In addition, we recommend avoiding the following essential oils while pregnant:

- Nutmeg - may have hallucinogenic effects and react with pain-relieving drugs in labour

- Rosemary - known to increase blood pressure, and may cause contractions

- Basil - known to contribute to abnormal cell development

- Jasmine - may trigger contractions

- Sage - may cause bleeding in uterus (womb)

- Juniper Berry - may affect kidneys

 

WHY HAVE YOUR PRICES INCREASED?

Being certified with the ACO (Australian Certified Organic) means that all of our ingredients are certified where humanly possible to source. This increases prices significantly. 

We have also changed a few key ingredients in our formulas, namely our preservative system. 

Previously we used Grapefruit Seed Extract as a preservative. Although the ingredient itself is natural, the process of extraction made it prohibitive for use in certified organic formulas. 

A common preservative in other certified organic skincare is alcohol. This does not make sense to us, as alcohol weakens the skin. So our new preservative system absolutely does not include alcohol. 

Instead, we are using the following preservatives to keep our products fresh, giving them an 18-24 month shelf life 

Leucidal preservative:

Leucidal® Liquid is a new, natural preservative from Active Micro Technologies combining the current trends for alternative preservative systems and peptide technology. Derived from radishes fermented with Leuconostoc kimchii, a lactic acid bacteria that has traditionally been used to make kimchi, this product consists of an isolated peptide that is secreted from the bacteria during the fermentation process that has been shown to have antimicrobial benefits. 

PhytoCide Elderberry preservative:

PhytoCide Elderberry OS is a new antimicrobial product developed by Active Micro Technologies. It is an efficacious, multi-functional natural alternative to the traditionally used preservatives in cosmetics and personal care applications.   

We take our duty to your skin seriously, so while these new preservatives are more expensive than alternatives, they are clean, cutting edge and, most importantly, good for your skin.

All our products are made by hand at the Vanessa Megan laboratory based in Sydney, Australia.

DO YOU POST OVERSEAS?

Yes, we post our products overseas. It usually takes 10 – 14 working days for parcels to be delivered.

 

DO YOU ACCEPT CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS?

WHAT ARE YOUR POSTAGE RATES?

Our postage rates depend on the weight of the order and its final destination. You will be able to see the postage cost at the checkout.

  

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CLEANSE MY FACE?

We recommend cleansing your face only once a day, at night before bed to wash away the day.

 

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I EXFOLIATE MY SKIN?

As a general rule, we recommend exfoliating 2-3 times a week. While exfoliating is an important and necessary part of any skin care regimen, your skin type will determine how frequently you should exfoliate. Our Prebiotic + C Brightening Exfoliator is gentle enough for daily use for MOST skin types.

 

HOW DO THE AIRLESS BOTTLES WORK?

Our airless bottles prevent air from getting inside the bottle, which significantly extends the shelf life of the product. These bottles don't have a dip tube, but rather a diaphragm that rises to evacuate the product. When you depress the pump, it creates a vacuum effect, drawing the product upwards. This means you can use almost all of the product without any waste leftover in the bottle. The pump/lid should NOT be removed if at all possible, as this can both contaminate the product and compromise the vacuum effect.

When you first get your product, you will most likely need to pump it 20-30 times to create a seal and get your cream flowing. After this first time, it shouldn't need pumping and should work as normal. 

If you have already removed your pump/lid, please screw it back on tightly. After you have done this, tap the bottle on a hard surface 2-3 times. You will then need to pump approximately 30 times to expel any air that got in when the bottle was opened.

If you are still unable to access your cream, please try removing the black "stopper" from the bottom of your product. You may need to use a small paper clip or bobby pin to hook through the small hole at the bottom to provide leverage. Once removed, you will have access to reach up and push the clear plastic stopper up toward the dispenser. After this, please replace the black stopper and try pumping your product again.
